This Saturday, August 28th, at 8:00 A.M. ET, on Sirius XM’s (NASDAQ: SIRI) Bob Edwards Show on XM Public Radio channel 133 and Sirius channel 196, Edwards will broadcast his first of two upcoming programs exploring the life experiences of people trying to survive — and save Louisiana. With all of the news and video coming out of the Gulf of Mexico since the BP oil rig disaster on the Deep Water Horizon on April 20th, 2010, not much mainstream media news has been reported on the recovery status of the Gulf Coast states since Hurricane Katrina.
The first of the series will be looking at the people and their struggles through a series of in-depth special reports and interviews with fishermen, biologists, hunters, professors, and of course, the weary residents of Louisiana discussing how the oil and gas industry has been helpful, and how it has hurt the coastal areas.
In the second of the scheduled programs “No Place like Home: The Vanishing Culture and Ecology of Coastal Louisiana, Bob Edwards will bring you inside the “perfect storm” that has changed the coastal culture forever — ecologically, economically, and emotionally for the people who for generations have lived in these Gulf Coast regions. Again, through a series of interviews and reports, there will be discussion of how to rebuild the wetlands and try to restore a way of life from being washed away by the powerful storm from five years ago, and from the more current oil spill that has again devastated a slow-to-recover area. The second part in the series will air on Wednesday, September 1st.
Bob Edwards has a regular weekday show on Sirius XM’s XMPR channel Monday through Friday at 8:00-9:00 A.M. ET on XM channel 133, and on channel 196 for Sirius subscribers with The Best of XM programming package. Bob Edwards also has a weekend show and has been with Sirius XM since 2004. Prior to joining Sirius XM Radio’s line-up, Edwards hosted National Public Radio’s (NPR) “Morning Edition” for just over twenty four years, attracting more than 13 million listeners weekly.
