Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ: SIRI) announced today it will be launching ‘Carmageddon Radio’ to keep Los Angeles drivers updated with the information they need to know to maneuver around the coming I-405 freeway closure. Sirius XM’s ‘Carmageddon Radio’ will be broadcasting comprehensive news and traffic reports to help drivers in the Los Angeles metro area during what is being called “Carmageddon”: the planned 53-hour, 10-mile closure of the I-405 freeway between U.S.101 and I-10 on the weekend of July 16th-17th.
‘Carmageddon Radio’ will broadcast from Friday, July 15th at 10:00 pm PT through Monday, July 18th at 5:00 am PT on Sirius XM’s Los Angeles Traffic and Weather channel 140. ‘Carmageddon Radio’ will keep drivers informed about delays and incidents in the L.A. metro area, including road speed and flow information, due to the demolition and reconstruction of the Mulholland Drive Bridge.
In addition to non-stop 24/7 in-depth, up-to-date traffic and weather coverage of the L.A. metro area, Sirius XM broadcasts traffic and weather information for 21 major U.S. metropolitan areas, including Atlanta, Boston, Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Detroit, Houston, Las Vegas, Miami, Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York City, Orlando, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, San Diego, Seattle and Washington, DC.
