Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ:SIRI) Free Trial Offer

By Demian Russian

Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ:SIRI) Now Offering Free Satellite and Internet Radio ServiceSirius XM Radio (NASDAQ:SIRI) is again offering a free sampling of its Satellite Rradio service. Sirius XM has turned on all inactive Satellite Radios with a selection of 60 of its commercial-free music, sports, news, talk and entertainment channels for a free trial period, which will run through November 30th. Nothing is required to take advantage of this free promotional trial. If you have a Satellite Radio, all you have to do is turn it on. Sirius XM is also offering a free 14 day trial of its Internet radio service as well, which includes over 130 channels. No credit card and no commitment is required. In order to take advantage of the free Internet radio promotion, you must sign up for the offer on Sirius XM’s website.

How many new subscribers will Sirius XM Radio garner from this special free promotional trial offer? Sirius XM’s Satellite Radio service is something that consumers really need to experience for a period of time to really understand and appreciate. While having access to a selection of Sirius XM Radio’s wide variety of channels on a long drive can easily create an addiction to the service, it simply comes down to how many individuals know about and participate in the free promotional trial, and if they are exposed to enough audio content which is intriguing to them for a long enough of a time to create an interest in subscribing. Would this promotion be even more successful if the entire Sirius XM lineup of channels were offered for even a longer period of time — such as an entire month? That’s a question left for the marketing gurus to decide.

Sirius XM Radio seems to be quietly targeting those with deactivated Satellite Radios via email and has not announced this promotional trial via a mainstream advertisement or press release as of yet, although there is a new “Turn it back ON” selection tab on Sirius XM’s website which offers details about the offer. Without any accompanying advertising Sirius XM will save money in marketing costs, but awareness may be limited and so could the number of new subscribers garnered.

  1. Mike

You can’t offer the full line up because of the mature nature of some channels

    • Very good point Mike, but it would be possible if participants were given the option to register online with Sirius XM for an expanded lineup which could include adult channels.

Not only did I receive an email, I received a letter in the mail as well to get my old stilettos turned backed on. I bet others did as well. Very Very smart, targeted and aggressive marketing.
