Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ:SIRI) announced this morning that customers who purchase a pre-owned vehicle including factory-installed Satellite Radio, regardless of manufacturer, from participating Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram Truck dealerships across the U.S. will receive a free 3-month trial subscription to SiriusXM Satellite Radio.

A 3-month SiriusXM subscription not only adds value to the superior inventory of pre-owned vehicles available at Chrysler Group dealerships across the country, but also makes driving enjoyable for even more of their customers.

Chrysler Group will continue to offer customers a free trial subscription to Sirius XM with the purchase of a new or certified pre-Owned Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep or Ram Truck vehicle that is factory-equipped with Satellite Radio.

This is just the beginning to be followed by ford and the others. All of them. Because now they will be competing among themselves to get siri for free. Mel is a genius and very, very shrewd genius. I hope we all know that it eventually leads to siri being a feature on most of the autos with a 3 to 5 year “free” subscription at the expense of the auto makers. We did end up paying for CD players installed in each and every auto, didn’t we???
