Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ:SIRI) has signed football superstar Tim Brown, who won the Heisman Trophy as a wide receiver at Notre Dame before going on to a prolific NFL career, as a college football and NFL analyst.
“It takes a special kind of player to earn the nicknames ‘Touchdown Timmy’ and ‘Mr. Raider.’ Throughout his long career, Tim was both a remarkable performer on the field and a dedicated student of the game and we’re thrilled to have him on our roster. Whether he’s talking pro or college football, all of our listeners will benefit from his insight and expertise.”
– Steve Cohen, SiriusXM Radio’s SVP of Sports Programming
The first wide receiver to be awarded the Heisman Trophy, Tim Brown set 19 school records during his career at Notre Dame. The two-time All-American (1986, 1987) and Walter Camp Award winner was selected sixth overall in the 1988 draft by the Los Angeles Raiders and went on to star for that franchise for 16 seasons before finishing his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
As a rookie he led the NFL in kickoff returns, return yards, and yards per return average. He holds the NFL rookie record for most combined yards gained in a season (2,317). Over his prolific career he set Raiders franchise records for touchdowns (104), receptions (1,070), receiving yards (14,734), and punt return yards (3,272). He also holds an NFL record for having more than 75 receptions in 10 straight seasons. A member of the NFL’s 1990s All-Decade team, Brown was voted to nine Pro Bowl teams. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2009 and has been nominated for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2013.
