Sirius XM (NASDAQ:SIRI) to Air Live Concert Celebrating Grupo Niche’s 30th Anniversary from Lehman Center for the Performing Arts

Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ:SIRI) - Grupo Niche Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ:SIRI) announced today that it will exclusively air Grupo Niche’s concert live from Lehman Center for the Performing Arts, on Saturday, May 19th, 2012, at 8:00 pm ET on SiriusXM Caliente (Sirius Radio and XM Radio channel 150). Sirius XM Radio joins in Grupo Niche’s celebration of their 30-year musical career with this national broadcast.

This special Grupo Niche concert is part of a series of performances from Lehman Center for the Performing Arts’ 2012 season being broadcast across multiple Sirius XM Radio channels. Lehman Center for the Performing Arts is located on the campus of Lehman College, City University of New York, at 250 Bedford Park Boulevard West in the Bronx.

Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ:SIRI) has brought National Soccer Hall of Famer John Harkes on board to host SiriusXM’s daily soccer talk show, The Football Show, which airs weekdays from 7:00-9:00 am ET on Sirius Radio channel 92 and XM Radio channel 207, as well as on the SiriusXM Internet Radio App for smartphones and mobile devices.

Harkes will host The Football Show multiple times each week, along with fellow soccer experts Charlie Stillitano and Neil Barnett. He will also contribute to SiriusXM’s pre- and post-match coverage.

Throughout my career I’ve seen first-hand the incredible passion soccer fans have for their sport. Harkes played for the U.S. national team from 1987 to 2000, appeared in two FIFA World Cup tournaments (1990, 1994), and was named the team’s captain. Stitcher calls itself “the leader in Internet Radio for the world beyond music,” and now it’s expanding further into politics during an election year. CEO Noah Shanok says “The majority of Stitcher users listen to news and political content, so creating the Election Center was a natural step for us.”

The aggregator of spoken-word content already has deals for updates from CBS News Radio, Slate, Bloomberg, APM’s Marketplace, PRI and MSNBC. The “Obama for America” organization is signed up, too.
